🥗 Greek Salad In Greece

I was on a city tour and my guide suggested we stop at Odos Araxame for lunch. He seemed really set on it, and after a couple of gentle nudges, I agreed. I figured… why not. I was hungry, and it looked cute and calm simple setup, cozy outdoor seating, and a nice breeze.
So I sat down and ordered a few things.

What I Ordered:
Greek Salad (€10)
Shrimp Saganaki (€14)
Local Beer (€7)
Total: €31 — no tax added, just straight pricing

Let’s start with the Greek salad. It was fresh and clean big slices of juicy tomato, thick cucumber, red onion, olive oil, and that real Greek feta that hits different. No peppers, and they made it exactly how I asked. Nothing to write home about, but it was good. Very good, actually. Simple and solid. The kind of thing you can’t really replicate back home.
The shrimp saganaki… not for me. It’s a traditional dish here, and I get why some people love it, but I wouldn’t order it again. The flavor just didn’t match my taste.

Now, the beer 😒 €7 for a regular local beer with no tax added. I asked around later and even some locals said that price was steep. It wasn’t a fancy import or anything, just standard. So yes, I definitely felt the “tourist markup” on that one.

But the staff was lovely. Really warm, polite, and helpful.. Toward the end, my server asked if I wanted to leave a tip. That hasn’t happened anywhere else here, and tipping isn’t a big thing in Greece, but I wasn’t mad about it. I appreciated the service, so I left a little something.
Anywho:
Was it the best food I’ve had in Greece? No.
Was it the worst? Not even close.
It was one of those meals that just got the job done. The salad was the highlight. The shrimp wasn’t for me. The beer felt overpriced. But the vibe was calm, the service was great, and it was a nice little break in the middle of the day.

BTW not every meal has to be iconic. Sometimes it’s just about the moment. And honestly, I’m just happy I finally got to eat a Greek salad in Greece 🥰
