Pulp Fiction Would Never 😒

Currently on a plane, full Delta One treatment, laid back, sipping wine, dinner in front of me. Everything was smooth… until I decided to put on a movie.
A Working Man……. 🙄 Never again.
From the opening scene, I knew it was gonna be bad. But I kept watching, thinking maybe it would pick up. Maybe the story just needed time. Nope. It stayed trash.

The acting? Horrible. Flat. Unbelievable. The lead actor…. Can’t remember his name and don’t care to google it, he’s been in a bunch of decent action movies over the years, looked like he didn’t even want to be there. Like someone handed him a script and a check and told him, “Just say the lines.” And the rest of the cast? Awful. That big Black guy they threw in for dramatic effect looked like he was pulled straight off the Black Panther set, but with none of the skill or presence. Just standing around giving nothing, mid acting and muscles. It was actually painful to watch.
And it made me miss the Pulp Fiction era so bad.
I don’t even mean just that one movie… I mean the whole era. When films weren’t scared to be bold. When characters were gritty, messy, offensive, raw. The dialogue was unfiltered, the stories were chaotic, and you didn’t know what was coming next. It wasn’t trying to be polite. It wasn’t trying to be liked. It was just good.
Pulp Fiction is still one of my favorite movies of all time. The writing. The violence. The insanity. And Samuel L. Jackson? Iconic. I’ll watch anything he’s in. That kind of presence is rare now. That kind of delivery? Rare. He knew how to own a scene, and you felt it.
I’m not one of those people who needs a perfect moral message in every scene. I don’t mind a little dark humor. I don’t flinch at sarcasm or a little on screen racism if it’s part of the story. It’s art. It’s reflection. It’s entertainment. Everything today feels so edited down and politically correct that it’s just… boring 🥱
Maybe I’m just craving that old-school honesty. When movies weren’t scared to be messy. When the lines weren’t perfect, but the moments were unforgettable.
Anyway, I’m rambling… and I know yall just here for the pictures so here’s a few of my dinner on this flight, looking way better than the movie I was stuck watching. If you see “A Working Man” listed, do yourself a favor, skip it. Or watch it if you need a reminder of how far movies have fallen.

If you wanna know more about my flight and flying Delta One, drop a comment. I’ll also be posting a video on my YouTube.
