So, I have a "friend", or at least someone I thought was my "friend" for over ten years, and I’m sitting here writing this because it’s been a week and I can’t stop thinking about all the violations. I am just so disgusted, hurt, and completely yucked out by everything.
I’m honestly putting this out here because I need to vent, but I also know so many women can relate to how exhausting it is to let your guard down, try to be vulnerable, and trust a man you call your brother, only to realize that motherfucker is not your friend. He’s a predator.
So, my "friend" owns a pair of Meta Ray-Ban glasses, and we really need to have a real conversation about these smart glasses. What is being sold as cool technology has turned into a breeding ground for sneaky, boundary-crossing men.
I knew my "friend" owned these glasses, and I was fine with him taking a quick video when something funny, crazy, or actually worth capturing was happening. But when you’re relaxing, lounging by the pool, or just walking, you’re in your own world. You expect your homie to have your back, to protect you, and to act like a gentleman. You don’t expect your "friend" to be intentionally lagging behind you specifically to record your body in a bikini, or secretly filming you while you’re having normal, private conversations.
It wasn't until a couple of days into our trip that I realized my "friend" was using a sneaky aftermarket tool specifically to cover up the tiny recording light so nobody could tell when he was filming.

Let’s be extremely clear: Meta literally built that privacy light into the hardware for safety compliance. My "friend" buying a little accessory to block it so women don't know they are being filmed isn't a "cool trick." It is sneaky, loser behavior, and it is explicitly predatory.
My "friend" is out here constantly sneak-recording women, whether it’s in public, in private, or in bed, and for what? Free online clout? To post videos on social media to show his followers he’s out with a bad bitch?

Men are taking these glasses into strip clubs, wearing them on hookups, taking them to parks, and filming women without their knowledge or consent. It’s disgusting, and it makes you feel like you can’t even breathe or exist without a man trying to exploit you for internet validation when your guard is down.
Honestly, going through this nightmare with someone who claimed to be my "friend" just makes me want my real person even more. I can’t wait for the day I meet my husband, a real, high-value man who is an absolute protector, who holds himself to a real standard, and who would never engage in this corny, sneaky, sleazy behavior.
🥰 I look forward to having a husband who respects women, protects my privacy, and makes me feel completely safe, so I never have to deal with another sleazy ass man in my fucking life again.
Until then, the lesson is learned. My "friend" proved he was never actually my friend. The trust is gone, the friendship is officially dead, and my space is permanently protected.
